General Studies Description

General Studies courses serve as pathways for student transitions, academic recovery, and transformational learning experiences such as research, creative practices, community engagement, study abroad, internships, and shared-intellectual programs. A select number of General Studies courses also satisfy General Education graduation requirements and have the “GE” annotation next to course title.

Departments, schools and student services units can offer subject matter that crosses multiple disciplines or experimental and innovative curriculum through General Studies 250 Interdisciplinary Topics (1-4) and General Studies 350 Interdisciplinary Topics (1-4). These course sections can also serve to offer academic support or enrichment learning activities for undergraduate students.
